It could more like a vacuum cleaner than a broom.

See all #Isles but Scott Mayfield for full team practice. Team says maintenance for Mayfield.

Barry Trotz expresses no concern about D Scott Mayfield's availability for Game 4. Said it was his call to keep him off the ice for maintenance for today's practice.

Well I hope Steve Mears and Bob Errey are still really excited. They were so excited the Pens got that extra loser point so they wouldn't have to play the Caps and got the Islanders instead. Errey goes goes with all due respect to the Islanders you have to be happy about that!

Really due respect Bob. You have zero respect for this franchise. I'm glad you got what you wanted now suck on it!

Still sad how Mears went from a good pxp guy on the Isles radio broadcast to trash just cause he's calling his boyhood team.

So how do they do it? The truth is, it almost assuredly won’t happen. But … If the Penguins are to come back from a 3-0 hole against the New York Islanders in their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series, how will it happen? The usual empty explanations were thrown around the

Why is Steve Mears a bad guy now? He joined the Isles years back when the team *really* sucked and got a break to call NHL games - not sure if it was on Hofstra Radio at the time - but - still - it was an entry level job for him - better to call an Isles team than the Ft. Wayne Comets or some other minor league team. John Weidemann before him moved on to Chicago.

Our big fear is that we lose someone like Shannon Hogan or God forbid - Brendan Burke to the Rag$. See Micheletti, Joe.

Should the Islanders finish off the Penguins tonight, they will hold a three-game playoff win streak at Nassau Coliseum dating back from 2015 into... whenever. Rest of series will shift to Brooklyn.

Thomas Greiss only goalie on ice for #Isles sparse optional morning skate. Basically the same extras as usual. Not expecting any change to lineup for Game 4.
Barry Trotz says #Isles D Scott Mayfield is good to go for Game 4 after being given yesterday's practice off for maintenance. Asked why Mathew Barzal was the only regular participating in optional morning skate, Trotz said, "He's young."
#Isles D Scott Mayfield confirms he's "100 %, all good" for Game 4. Asked whether he expects any changes from #Penguins, "Yeah, they’re going to have their best game. They’re going to bring everything they can. Their season is on the line and they’re going to be ready for it."

There are many reasons I would like to win tonights game however here are a couple of reasons I want just for the respectability factor. We went 23 years without winning a first round series. This was talked about for years before we finally broke it. You would think beating the Panthers would help but it didn't really but it was a good start.

The narrative then became the Islanders have only won 1 series in 23,24,25,26.......... If we beat the Pens in this series that narrative can finally be dropped. No longer will the 2 in 27 or whatever be a factor because most of those teams are long long gone.

It takes some of the stench off this team. Now people can start talking about the Panthers not winning a first round series in 24 years or the Leafs haven't won one since they beat the Isles in 2002.

It is just one of the many stigma's this team needs to wash away. Tonight would be a good step in that direction with a victory!

Totally agree. Beating the Panthers and ending that streak felt great, but in retrospect, it wasn't a significant moment. Beating a team who's won two of the last 3 Cups and led by the best player in the game. That's one for the ages.
