    Hello All!

I think here would be the best place to make trade proposals. Let's keep these strictly Islanders related. It's going to be hard to hear another team's perspective, but this should be a fun thread. Just to get things started...

    At the deadline:

    to NYI: Dan Hamhuis
to VAN: Thomas Hickey, Parker Wotherspoon, NYI 1st 2016

If deHaan is still struggling, Hamhuis would be the best partner for Hamonic. He's a strong veteran presence, can really help on a PK, and can be very valuable in a deep playoff run. Also, gets rid of Hickey's contract.

If we are going to give up our #1 I would like to get a bit more back. I don't see a lot of Canucks games (OK, I pretty much don't see any), but isn't Hamhuis on the back end of his career?

Only 32. I'd be more concerned on if he waived his NTC or not.

I think your giving up to much for a rental player. I might make that deal if I'm desperate. I'd like to add another defenseman. I don't expect that a Leddy or a Boychuk will be available this year, but if you can pick up a valuable player for scraps in the preseason, I hope Garth jumps all over it.

Last season, it was widely discussed that Chicago had to make a cap deal, are there any teams in a similar situation this preseason?

Unfortunately and fortunately probably the Rangers. Detroit's over the cap now, but I'm sure that'll be resolved with some easy roster moves before the season starts.

Next season it'll be Tampa Bay. They'll have to give up one of Johnson, Kucherov, Palat, or even Stamkos. The last guy they should give up is Palat IMO.

That makes it unlikely Snow gets to fleece another GM this year. I had my hopes up.

But we don't need another Boychuk or Leddy, we probably can't afford someone like that. Just a nice d-man for depth that can swing up to the top 4 when needed.

I was dreaming of a "Leddy" version on wing to play with JT, but I'm happy with what we have.

Should we put rumors here or just suggestions? I don't have anything, but can see some things eventually getting lost in the shuffle if we combine actual rumors and suggestion.

I think most people's rumors are suggestions.

I'm really missing Capgeek today. Who are the teams that are in similar situations as Boston and Chicago were last year? In other words ... who might come knocking on Garths cap space?

CapFriendly is an independent compiler & reliable source for NHL player contracts, draft picks, salary caps, daily cap tracking, Armchair-GM, and NHL CBA information.

I also follow them on twitter. I think they are pretty good and pretty prompt at updates. They had Brock's contract up this morning.

With the Brock signing and Grabner trade we have something like $8 million in cap space. Room for Garth to make another deal, hopefully to shore up the blue line. A few teams are up against the cap ceiling. Wings, Bolts, Hawks come to mind. Rags too but we are not trading with them.

Anyone on these teams make sense for us? Do we have assets to send them?
