But I think we all will agree that there is a lot more to this story that we will ever know about. I mean, of course Lou is going to take heat.. I am assuming you mean from fans... but it's not the first time Lou has taken heat for firing a head coach.
Barry may not have been done after his contract with 100% certainty. But perhaps he expressed doubt to Lou and therefore did not want to sign an extension. Lou wants a coach who is all in. If Barry isn't.....then he isn't the coach. Again, just a theory and we likely will never know the true story. But the story Lou told about a new voice is definitely not the full story.

OK. that sounds more like what Gaz was saying. Which for some reason isn't what I got out of the actual tweet from that guy. But yes! There is a lot more to this than we know.

In explaining decision to elevate Lane Lambert, #Isles Lou Lamoriello consistently referencing period in early January when Lambert had to temporarily take over for absent Barry Trotz. Lou says Lane was his own man and was impressed with how he handled that situation.

Lamoriello on "new voice" phrase: "Maybe it wasn't the right phrase that I should have used, but it is a new voice in the position...And I would say a big new voice in that because we're talking about two totally different personalities with reference to Barry and Lane."

This just goes to show that it wasn't a philosophical difference between Lou and Barry because Lambert will run the same system. I think it came down to personnel decisions and how certain players were utilized.
"We’re all buying in. There’s pride about being an Islander.”

The GM and HC have the same initials.

So how about LL1 for Lou and LL2 for Lambert?

Transition for the players should be easy as I'm sure they will play a very similar system.

Now it's on Lou to give the coach the offensive fire power to give the team the breathing room it needs in an 82 game season.

I wasn’t devastated when hearing Trotz was canned. Surprised it actually happened but not shocked. Agree with those saying there is more to this, good chance Barry was/is distracted and/or was done after next season anyway. Having Lambert, and not wanting to lose him this summer, as well as roster disagreements are logical factors as well.

I’m actually looking forward to this off-season and next season even more with the coaching change. Trotz was a huge get for this organization, on and off the ice, but it felt like change was necessary. While it’s in Lou to upgrade a couple of key spots, hopefully Lsnbert better utilizes the offensive talent on the roster than Barry did.

well, I am guessing that Lane is going to want his guys? Whoever they may be but also, Trotz, wherever he goes, will want to bring Hiller and Gruden along.

I wonder if either Chara or Boychuk make it onto the staff. Boychuk is clearly someone the players look up to, but he was also a super smart defenseman. I don't know if that will relate into coaching communicating skills, but the background is there for him.
