All home games at UBS (none at Bridgeport).

Camp officially opens 9/21, but heard rookies may get there as soon as tomorrow.

I probably would have brought in a veteran dman on a PTO, but I guess they are happy with Salo-Aho-Hutton as 6-7-8.

#Isles coach Lane Lambert said he is not anticipating any PTOs at training camp.

Yup. I guess Lou wants as much cap room as possible?

Could be, although a PTO doesn't cost anything unless they actually sign the player.

Maybe he likes what we have better than what is out there.

In addition to Salo-Aho-Hutton, I forgot about Cholowski. I have heard some good things about him. So it is 4 guys or the 6-7-8 spots.

Up front there really was no point bringing anyone in, we have more forwards with contracts then we know what to do with. Not to mention Raty as the big wild card here. I don't expect him to start the season with the big club but he is very possible as a mid season call up.

Yeah, I suppose if he wants to keep the contracts down and won't add, then why have a D come in on a PTO when you know you aren't going to add another contract?

#Isles Lane Lambert said he expects both Scott Mayfield and Cal Clutterbuck, who missed the end of last season with injuries, to be ready for training camp.

At this point, Lambert does not anticipate any player missing the start of camp because of injury concerns.

The Islanders are looking forward with new coach Lane Lambert at the helm, but the future is informed by the pain of last season.

                    NEW YORK ISLANDERS
The Battle For The Sixth Spot: Robin Salo, Dennis Cholowski or Sebastian Aho?

Who will play on the left side of Scott Mayfield on the Islanders’ third defensive pairing?

I asked New York Islanders head coach Lane Lambert if he had someone in mind for that final sixth spot, but he did not have an answer yet.

“That’s what training camp’s for,” Lambert said. “You know, testing things out, and exhibition games and things like that to find the right fit, but at the end of the day, the players, they’re going to answer the questions for us.”

Here are the top three choices for that sixth and final spot on the blue line: ROBIN SALO THE FRONT RUNNER?

There’s no way to know what Lane Lambert and New York Islanders management thinks, but it seems like Robin Salo has a strong chance of winning the job.

In 21 games up with the New York Islanders last season, Salo had a goal and four assists in 16:41 TOI. The 24-year-old showcased an element to his game that, at that point in time, the Islanders were lacking, and that’s his skating.

I think they finally know. At least I hope they do.

Yesterday, #Isles coach Lane Lambert says team has something to prove.
Today, #Isles players affirmed that feeling.

Adam Pelech: "I think everyone definitely has a chip on their shoulder. Everyone's excited to get back at it. We feel like we have something to prove."

                              #Isles Scott Mayfield tells @NewsdaySports
"The last three seasons, the first two were the legit Islanders. And last year was not. I think that's what we have to prove. We have to show that we are a contender."
