  • Casey Cizikas

Neil Best ‏@sportswatch Jack Capuano told me after practice Casey Cizikas still is day to day with an upper body issue, even though he skated at practice. #Isles

Well this is too bad Casey has probably been one of our most consistent players

I give that to Strait, his play has been bad all season but he is consistant! I think Casey is one of our top 3-4 best forwards this season.

Isles sign Casey Cizikas to a five-year deal worth $16.75 million.

I'm thrilled to have him locked up, but I thought we'd have gotten it done for less money.

That's roughly a $3.35 million cap it. I'm not sure what other fourth line players make on other teams but do you guys think that this is a lot or about right for what Zeke brings to the table?

I think it's a safe investment. Casey, you could argue, is a third liner. I don't think we will be complaining about it in a few years like the Bailey contract.

I agree, absolutely thrilled to have him locked up, but it seems a bit steep. Add in $2.75 for Clutterbuck to me means Matt Martin is history. You can't time up $8 million on a 4th line.

Absolutely, he brings a lot to the table that's for sure and one thing we can never accuse him of is lack of effort. Like MW said, I think we now know why we won't be re-signing Martin because we'd have too much money tied up in the 4th line.

Martin is good in his role, but I agree with your assessment. Maybe something can be worked out, but it's highly doubtful now.

He's not playing 4th line next year, nor is Clutterbuck, I bet.

Most likely, Quine slots in as 4th line C next year, and I'm ok with that.

You could be right. But I am not sure Casey scores enough goals to play up. Maybe he would with more offensive opportunities.

I hope you're right, it drives me crazy when I see some forwards getting more ice time than they deserve.

If Casey moves up does that mean Frans is gone? If our centers are JT-Stamkos-Casey-Quine I think I will deal with it. But if it is JT-Brock-Casey-Quine, that does not sound as good to me.

Don't get me wrong, I really like Casey and what he brings. But I do think this is an overpayment. Is this the place for that? I think I would rather overpay Kyle by $500,000 or $750,000 than I would Casey.

Holy over payment Batman! I expected 3 years at 2 per.

No way he's centering the 4th line next year.
