No, I mean the actual Cup. The captain takes it, then there is always speculation about who he will hand it off to first.

Oh damn. No wonder why I didn't understand you. That talk is like a foreign language to an Islander fan. I haven't thought of that conversation in nearly 4 decades.

        • If the Isles win a Cup, I won't care less about the order of who carries it. As long as that person is wearing an Islander jersey.

While Cizikas is still more of a 4th liner than 3rd liner in terms of defense, I wouldn't be against promoting him to line 3 next year if it means spending a few bucks on the top 2 lines. Then go the 1 year Fippula like vet route for 4th line center.

Brampton will be hosting the first-ever annual hockey night very soon. And, many all-star NHL players will be in attendance.

              Catching Up With Casey Cizikas

Coming off of a career-high 20-goal year, Casey Cizikas is amping up for the upcoming season.

Just as quickly as the 2018-19 hockey season wrapped up and the offseason set in, the upcoming 2019-20 season is just around the corner. For Islanders seasoned center Casey Cizikas, he's itching to get back at in the game action.

Cizikas, who is coming off of a career-high, 20-goal season - a first in his eight-year NHL career, doesn't feel pressure to duplicate his production from last season. Individual numbers do not align with the Islanders' team-first culture that was adopted by the arrival of Barry Trotz last summer. Rather, Cizikas' singular strides were a byproduct of the entire team's collective commitment towards a united goal.

"It's not easy to score 20 goals in the NHL," Cizikas said. "I'm doing everything this summer to put myself in a position to succeed. Going into this season, that's not my goal. That's not something I'm only trying for. I want to do everything possible to help this team the best way I can. Whatever the coaches ask of me and whatever management asks of me I'm going to go out there and try and do that."

              • #Isles Barry Trotz said it's too early in the week to determine whether Casey Cizikas (lower body) will be available for Friday night's season-opener vs. #Caps but Trotz is hopeful Cizikas will resume skating in the next couple of days.

Glad he will be back but it sucks to start the season with bumps and bruises already.

                  • Re: #Isles C Casey Cizikas - Barry Trotz said he aggravated what sounds like a muscle issue in the last preseason game. Isles are now going to wait for Cizikas to get to 100 percent. Trotz said every time Cizikas plays, he re-aggravates the problem.

After all Clutterbuck went through playing with a nagging injury, you'd think Casey would have been smarter and wait til he was 100%. Stupid.

I blame this one on Casey and Casey alone.

It is hard to hold a hockey player down. It is opening night and the juices are pumped. Opening night is a special night but with hockey players they will also lie to get a chance to play in game 42 if they have to. Hockey players are tough and just want to play. It may not be the right thing to do but like it or not. This is the mentality of a hockey player.

If this were twenty, thirty years ago, I'd get it. But with all we know about how the body recovers or doesn't makes it stupid to "play through." We have get over this idea that playing injured is something to be lionized for. I get athletes are "tough", but it shouldn't take courage to say "I want to be able to keep up my grandkids when I'm in my 60s."

I get what you are saying but there is nothing I love more than a hockey players mentality. I love that it is hard to hold the Stallions back!
