  • 2022 Draft; starts Thursday, July 7

Might as well hope for a high draft pick and hopefully get some high end talent in here. Obviously i like that they compared him to a Gilles type of player. I don't know anything about this year's prospects but if it's a good crop the pick is off the table unless it's Patrick Kane in return. A top pick and FA money to spend puts us in a good position going into next year.

I am on board with getting a top 10 pick. Top 5 would be OK, too. Better than making a push but never really getting in range of the playoffs and ending up with a pick in the 14 to 16 range.

I will root for us to win every game we play. But if we lose, I will remind myself that it serves the greater good. Yes, we are back to that scenario. Hopefully just for this year, then Lou can make some moves in the off season to bring us back to the top. We would not be the first good team to have a bad year then recover the next season. I think that is very possible here with some tweaks to the roster. I think I am going to start a half season thread to discuss.

If we have a similar second half, we'll be in the 9-12 range IMO. Did I hear somewhere this is a deep draft? Coyotes get the better of our 2 second round picks, so they'll take ours and we keep Colorado's. I like to see some players moved out so we can stock up.

The deadline is March 21. But if they want to make a push, I'd trade a regular now (Baily, Bailey, Bailey! ) to shake things up.

Seravalli: NHL teams are asking for 2023 Draft picks over 2022

With one week to go until the March 21 deadline, how many more will be moved?

Historically, we know that an average of four are dealt each deadline over the last decade.

But this trade deadline may be a bit different from the rest in that, so far, teams have asked for and prefer 2023 draft picks as compensation over picks from the upcoming 2022 Draft. They are seen as more valuable – and that includes later round picks, not just first-round picks.

Unscientifically, the 2023 Draft is perceived as being “deeper” than 2022. Whether that is actually true depends on the eye of the beholder.

#Isles with a 2.0 percent chance in NHL Draft Lottery on May 10. Canadiens have best chance at 18.5. Coyotes at 13.5 and Kraken at 11.5.

To clarify, teams can only move up a maximum 10 spaces. #Isles are 13th.
So, only Habs, Coyotes, Kraken, Flyers (9.5), Devils (8.5), Chicago (7.5), Senators (6.5), Red Wings (6.0), Sabres (5.0), Ducks (3.5), Sharks (3.0) eligible for No. 1 pick.

I bet he's still technically employed.

13 to 3 would be a great jump.
The object is to win. Not just to compete, but to win.

I would view it as a biblical sign that we are winning it all next yr!
