You were completely right. I thought with the style of game the Islanders play that he would be insulated from his shortcomings that come with age. No. He is far worse than I thought he would be. It's costing us games. Lou has to do something about it before they dig themselves too big of a hole.

I'd love to see Salo up here and playing with Mayfield.

It could have been the worse one yet. If you watch every time he has a chance to move the puck or clear it out of the zone, last night he gave it away almost EVERY single time. It is absolutely killing them and why the puck stays in the zone so much. And like TK said, what is with the falling?? Guys are having their way with him every single game and his teammates, particularly his goaltender have to bail him out constantly in the game. It takes away from being in the other end of the ice.

If I was Lou, I'm not sure how much more I could keep him in the lineup.
One of the other things I noticed about Chara is how many times he slips his hands together on his stick. Try to imagine you are holding your stick with both hands up high on the stick with only about 1 foot of separation between their hands. Add on to that the length of Chara's stick. He has NO leverage on his stick when he tries to pass the puck or shoot the puck out of the zone. So you keep getting these soft flutter pucks. I don't care how big Chara is if you hold your stick like that you are going to get nothing on the puck! If anything it is probably worse because of the length of his stick.

Look for it next game you will know what I mean.

        • When Zdeno Chara steps onto the ice at SAP Arena Thursday night, he'll do something no other NHL defenceman has ever done. As he prepares to break the record for games played by an NHL defender, here's a closer look back at Big Z's 24 seasons in the big leagues.

                • I wonder if he retires whether he and the Islanders had mutual interest in making him an assistant coach. Z knows the game so well.

                    • The Bruins don’t seem likely to have room for the 45-year-old defenseman, who was at Warrior Ice Arena this week.

                          • When Zdeno Chara arrived in the WHL in 1996, he was the definition of a project player. More than his size, Chara's work habits became the stuff of legends through his long and successful career.
