Luke Schenn just signed with Vancouver for 2 years at $850K per. He would have been a good signing for that amount.

I'm wondering if maybe the holdup is that maybe the Isles, Seattle and St Louis are rekindling talks around Tarasenko. Maybe Seattle absorbs some salary, and gets a pick and/or a player they want out of it. St Louis dumps the contract, and the Isles flip a package to Seattle to take one of their many Left D's plus Tarasenko at a reduced salary.
Those types of deals are difficult to pull off, which could be the holdup.

Too bad, Hoffman was just signed to a 3 year deal worth $4.5M per with Montreal. I thought that was a good backup option if they can't get Tarasenko
