Really looks like Edmonton and Toronto for hubs cities. No big issues with the safety protocol, but you know how it is, the devil is in the detail. If the NHL and NHLPA have a CBA extension, we’ll have some hockey this summer. If not, it will be difficult. That’s my understanding
Vegas doesn't make sense. This does.

        • This is not good news for us. We will stay stuck with Ladd. Leaving not a lot of room to sign Barzal, Pulock, Toews, and another goalie.

Seeing all sorts of speculative chatter amongst fans discussing possibility of new CBA amnesty buyouts to help clubs manage flat cap. Amnesty buyouts are NOT part of agreement. They might make a GM’s life easier but wouldn’t help owners/players navigate their troubled economy.
Barzy is going to wind up with a bridge deal for sure.

With Edmonton and Toronto being chosen as the two NHL Hub cities, the question most often asked now is, which of the two will play host to the Stanley Cup final and Conference finals? The answer, apparently, is Edmonton.

            • While NY and the rest of the northeast definitely had a bad start to the whole pandemic, if the rest of the country had followed our lead in how to re-open and mask wearing, this whole thiing might be meeting it's end. Oh well.

              • Edmonton has won the Stanley Cup Final! No, not the Oilers. That hasn’t happened since 1990.The Oilers haven’t been in the Stanley Cup Final since losing Game 7 in 2006. But Edmonton will play host to the final in 2020 COVID-19 willing.

I believe the reason the rest of the country keeps experiencing problems everytime they reopen is bc they never had the virus circulate among their population in the subways, railroads, offices and elevators like we did for apprx 3 months before we qtined.

                  • As the NHL and the NHLPA continue negotiating a new CBA, some details are starting to emerge about what could change in the new arrangement.

                    • Toronto and the National Hockey League had plenty of work when it came to choosing Hogtown as a hub city, but it doesn’t seem the Stanley Cup will be raised here by the Maple Leafs or anyone else.

                      • While consensus on the last details of the return-to-play agreement between the NHL and its players’ union has yet to be reached, a report Friday suggested that dates for the resumption of the 2019-20

If this were true, half of the rest of the developed world would be seeing the same spikes in cases that we are seeing in outside the northeast. The only two differences between us and those other countries are tighter and longer lockdowns and mass mask wearing. Both of those things came from a strong national response to.the virus. Remember most of these states either never had a full bore stay-at-home order or rapidly relaxed it while positive rates were increasing. Clearly California is the exception though.

We locked down to flatten the curve when our hospitals were overrun with cases. Most of the rest of the country locked down before they experienced hospital ovveruns.

When an area has experienced the spread of covid to the same extent as the nyc area then and only then will the waves become far less serious. If they keep doing the yo-yo strategy of open/ close then it will take them much longer to get to where we are.

The recent protests have most likely added to the recent spikes but also contributed to getting herd immunity.

                              Let's hope for the best!

Couldn't agree more. I am convinced that we have a level of herd immunity in NY (NYC and Long Island area where we have a heavily concentrated population).
