    Saturday night in Motown.

Can we pull out of this slump or is it the usual November/December swoon?

    Let's Go Islanders!!!

A little bit of both. our coaches have a game plan for each and every game, they make changes (except the PP) for the most part, and I believe Trotz's is getting the most out of his players, the problem is the players Garth signed & drafted for the most part "SUCK", It takes awhile to get rid of suck. Can't make chicken salad from chicken ****, as the saying goes.

Islanders trying to snap out of recent offensive funk

They have just eight goals in their current 1-3-1 slide and are 0-for-19 on the power play in their last nine games.

DETROIT – The yin to the Islanders’ yang of improving defensively under Barry Trotz was not supposed to be a total drop-off in offensive production. The new coach wants to coax solid two-way performances from his players.

Yet the Islanders have just eight goals in their current 1-3-1 slide and a two-game losing streak into Saturday night’s game against the Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena.

The Islanders (13-11-3), who did not practice on Friday, opened this two-game road trip with a lackluster 6-2 loss at Pittsburgh on Thursday night. The power play went 0-for-2 with three shots, extending its drought to 0-for-19 over the past nine games and 4-for-48 in their last 16 games.

“Teams are going to score,” center Mathew Barzal said. “You’ve got to find a way to put four, five on the board. You’ve got to find a way to push that side of the game a little bit.”

Barzal (three goals, 18 assists) has gone without a point in his last three games and has just two assists over his last six games. But that just mirrors the Islanders’ play.
The Red Wings (13-12-4) are in a 1-2-2 slide at home but won, 5-4, in overtime at Toronto on Thursday.

They could if it were a road game, but since its a home game for them, I expect them to be pumped up.

Tom Kuhnhackl was on the ice to start #Isles morning skate, took a rep in line rushes with Valtteri Filppula and Leo Komarov. But he left the ice early. Ross Johnston took his spot on the next wave of line rushes.

Per #Isles Barry Trotz, Tom Kuhnhackl is a GTD (game-time decision). Training staff/coaching staff was assessing after Kuhnhackl left morning skate early.

Do not see Tom Kuhnhackl out for pre-game warmups. So Ross Johnston will be in for him.
However...don't see D Luca Sbisa for warmups, either. Which means Adam Pelech will play.

                            Ugh who knows?

I'm here briefly then I'm going to a holiday party. They should have the game on there as they have a dog named Gillies!

Most parties for the holidays started this weekend, luckily we went this afternoon to one, which freed up time for tonights game.
