I'm looking at the stats for Koskinen and Sorokin. Mikko is 9-10 with a 2.49 GAA. IIya has lost 4 times in 12 games with a .957 save % and a 0.97 GAA. What kind of hockey are they playing over there that the goalie stats are so bloated?

Big ice, lower talent level in that league (especially high end scorers).

KHL expanding to China in 2016-17, South Korea could be next

The first expansion team for the 2016-17 season has been awarded, but it won’t be playing in Las Vegas or Quebec City. The KHL announced Monday the league will have a team from Beijing joining the league, and the new club will begin playing in September 2016, according to TASS.
Beijing’s KHL team, which is yet unnamed, will play at the 18,000-seat MasterCard Center in Beijing, which currently plays host to the Chinese Basketball Association’s Beijing Ducks. The arena was also host to the basketball tournament at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The team will be backed by Russian and Chinese businesses, and the league will also be supplying Beijing with a development academy.
“The task is to build a hockey vertical: a KHL team, a second team playing in the Chinese league, a team in the youth league and mass involvement so that all who wish can play ice hockey and there should be more ice rinks that are public and open for all,” vice president of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation, Roman Rotenberg, told TASS.ru. “This is a priority task.”
I guess they are not folding.

          KHL Announces 2016 All-Star Rosters

The Kontinental Hockey League has recently announced the full 2016 All-Star game rosters on its official website. The 2016 All-Star game will be held on January 23rd at thebrand-new VTB Arena in Moscow, which opened less than one year ago. It will be the second All-Star game held in the Russian capital city, after the famous 2009 game on the Red Square. This will also make the third consecutive All-Star game held in the Western Conference, after the games in Sochi and Bratislava.
          Sorokin made it!!

          So did Milan Jurcina.

Watch KHL coaches fight between benches during pre-season game

The pre-season has many functions for a professional hockey team. For GMs, it’s a chance to make some final decisions about the roster for the coming season. For players, it’s one final tune up before the regular season begins. Even the training staff can get up to speed during the pre-season.

But for two KHL coaches, the pre-season offered a chance to get out frustrations by throwing punches at each other.

Tomas Marcinko is a former Islander prospect. I remember seeing him play at Bridgeport 5-6 years ago.

Can we get him back? When to we play Pittsburgh?

Everyone has to watch this. This guy is totally out of control.

Watch KHL goon suckerpunch three opponents, attack opposing bench in wild scene

Damir Ryspayev has played 23 career games in the KHL. Over that time, Ryspayev has yet to find the score sheet for anything other than heading to the penalty box, and the ridiculousness of Ryspayev’s playing style marred a pre-season tilt between Barys Astana and Red Star Kunlun on Monday.

The 21-year-old Ryspayev, who has racked up nearly 200 penalty minutes over his short professional career in Astana, turned the pre-season game between Barys and Red Star into a joke just three minutes into the first frame. After a faceoff in the Barys zone, Ryspayev tried to goad Kunlun’s Tomas Marcinko into a fight, and when Marcinko wouldn’t drop his gloves, Ryspayev decided to suckerpunch him in the jaw.

As if he hadn’t caused an ugly enough scene, Ryspayev kept throwing fists. He went from socking Marcinko to attacking two more unwilling combatants from Red Star — one of whom Ryspayev targeted twice — before turning his attention to the Kunlun bench, skating over and attempting to fight players who weren’t even on the ice.

"There’s unfinished business," coach Barry Trotz said.

KHL Player Receives Lifetime Ban for On-Ice Attacks

After an on-ice attack that left one player laying on the ice unconscious, the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) announced Barys Astana defenseman Damir Ryspayev was banned from the league for life on Thursday.

Wow, that's a shame if it comes to it. Might help our chances of getting Sorokin over here, but he just a prospect. Anyone still hoping for Petrov?

Financial woes might lead KHL to contract to 24 teams

The Kontinental Hockey League is considering shrinking from 29 to 24 teams following years of financial instability.
