Pittsburgh Penguins news – purge assistant coaches, but keep Mike Sullivan as more changes promised

    This is odd.

It’s not often that an entire coaching staff is released except for the head guy. That’s what happened today as the Pittsburgh Penguins let go of all Mike Sullivan’s assistants.

Three Stanley Cups in five years — including a back-to-back set — would qualify as a dynasty.

Dam Pens win again. I think I may have highly underestimated how good of a coach Mike Sullivan is.

I agree with you on that. Losing Sid for 6 weeks is going to really hurt them this time. Could be the turning point on whether or not they make the playoffs this year and then if they don't.........well next year both Sid and Malkin are another year older

Yep I agree and that is even with a return of Malkin.

One you put either Malkin or Bjugstad on LTIR but if they do that then they are there for 10 games minimum. They expect Bjugstad back before Malkin so that would have to be Malkin. Two put Jack Johnson on waivers and if he clears then that will give them around 1 million in Cap relief. Then they could bring up some scrub forward. Three they are carrying 8 dmen. Might have to put one down on waivers. Then once again be able to bring some scrub up. I guess there is a four and that would be a trade.

Pens have painted themselves in to a corner. No way this team makes the playoffs. I could care less about their 7-2 win.
Like the Hawks it was worth it but still nice to see them in this position.
