There is talent in this team. The right coach could turn them around. Coach Q could be huge there.

There is a real sense today that the process between FLA and Joel Quenneville is much further along than many of us realized. It’s not a done deal, but it’s close. It would not be a surprise if this process closes in the near future.

Look who's on a panel for the parent company who owns the Florida Panthers !!! (not Denis Potvin - he is already affiliated)

Coach Q has landed! The @FlaPanthers have hired three-time @StanleyCup winner Joel Quenneville as the team's next coach.
The Panthers have talent, can Coach Q have the "Trotz effect"?

If nothing else, this prevents the Leafs from hiring him if they want to move on from Babcock. So that is a good thing!

Dale Tallon said associate coach Jack Capuano remains but perhaps not as an assistant coach. Could be a roving instructor, work in front office role...

I have no ill will towards the Panthers, but it would be priceless if Garth landed a job there, too!

In reality, it’s not like what the Panthers are doing wrong is hard to pinpoint – because it’s not. The mistakes they are making night in and night out are all basic hockey mistakes, yet assistant coach Jack Capuano (who takes care of the defense) has been another culprit who’s failed to take charge.

Yet here we are with this talent going to waste in another season with missed playoff hockey.

Roberto Luongo — the most popular player in Florida Panthers history — will become the first player in team history to have his number retired. Luongo, who retired on June 26 after a stellar 20-year career, will have his No. 1 jersey retired on Saturday, March 7, against his hometown team — the Montreal Canadiens. “It’s a great honor. When I found out yesterday, I didn’t even realize I was going to be the first player retired,” Luongo said.
