    That was ugly too.

I miss spontaaneous fights between 2 hockey players. But I don't miss staged fights between 2 guys who can't play hockey.

A settlement has not been agreed on, but three players say their attorneys have told them a deal could include a cash payout of $25,000 (U.S.), plus funding for players to get treatment for neurocognitive disorders, TSN Senior Correspondent Rick Westhead writes.

            That seems awfully low.

So a rested Smurf team got to play a tired Bufflalo team playing it's second in game in as many nights on Sunday. Then they get to play a Montreal team playing it's second game in as many nights again on Tuesday. I wonder how often the league pads the schedule and shows that kind of favoritism for its pet teams?

I'm heart broken for my kid. In his travel game last night he lost an edge, went into the boards awkwardly as a kid hit him. He fractured his collar bone and is going to be out months. The kid is in so much pain and is so depressed. He plays about 6 days a week. Sucks so badly, but nothing you can do.

Wow, that really does suck. Sorry to hear it.

Once he is feeling a little better, you can lift his spirits by taking him to an Isles game, just you and him. Or something like that.

A few years ago my nephew broke his arm at summer camp. He came home for a few days to see the doctor here. My brother and I took him and my older son to a Yankee game to make him feel better. Absolute dumb luck - we were at the game when Derek Jeter got his 3,000th hit. That was quite a moment. So now my nephew's memory of breaking his arm is that he got to see that history.

Thank you guys. It could have been worse. He went through the big concussion last season and another one of those and I would try to convince him to stop playing.

And good story Mark! Hoping there will be a silver lining here too. I just took him and his brother to their first game this season on Saturday, but maybe we will go more now that he has the time.

Hey Gaz, don't mess with concussions. Matt had a hockey related concussion a few years ago (pretty sure he was about 18). I had the same reaction you did - one more and you are done. That would have been tough to enforce when he was over 18 but I would have given it my best. Fortunately he did not have another one, and at least for now he is not playing any serious competitive hockey.

Trust me no one feels as bad for him as I do. Tell me he is 10 years old or younger because they heal like crazy! Once you start hitting 15 it takes a lot of time to heal and it starts to effect you later in life. The collar bone I fractured when I was 10 I don't even know I had an injury there but for the other one which came later in life ouch!!!!!

You don't have to be playing competitive to get these. I know a couple guys playing non contact hockey (is there such a thing) that have had some serious concussions. One guy was forced out of the Air Force 6 years ago after 24 years service and is still dealing with the aftermath of the concussion. Hockey is not for the weak of heart that is for sure!
