Hockey - General (From Playing to Thoughts on the Game)
I've never played hockey because I really can't skate. It is the reason I watch it because I have so much respect for the players that can play at such a high level. They are the most athletic and versatile athletes that play any sport IMO.
My 20 year old Sony TV passed away last week, I kept her down in the basement where my kids would watch TV. To save money, I bought a Samsung forty inch flat screen HDTV that was a floor model at Best Buy. It's for the basement, so I didn't want to pay a lot for a new TV with Christmas on the horizon. Well, it turns out that baby has a better picture than the 55" Samsung I bought last year for the living room. I don't think I'll ever buy brand new again! Now, I've kicked the kids out of the basement, I'm converting the playroom into my "Man Cave" , and I've ordered NHL Center Ice for the coming season. I am soooooo excited to start watching hockey on my new toy.
"We’re all buying in. There’s pride about being an Islander.”

I hope you are going to make it into an Islander man cave!

I'm ashamed to say it, I have a lot of great photos of old Yankee stadium, before the 1973 renovation, but very little of the Islanders. I do have a prized Jason Blake jersey that I'd like to frame and hang up on the wall... Last year I was watching hockey on my lap top on NHL.com and that was not very good. Very happy to have my own space.
Less than a week before the puck drops to start the 2015-16 NHL season, Canada Post lifted the veil today on a new stamp issue that celebrates six goaltending greats who transformed hockey.
So this story is at the rink where I ref. I worked earlier in the day. The guy who did the saving was a guy I grew up with. The guy rescued is a friend of mine. They are both cops.
The victim was transported by Nesconset Fire Department ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.
For anyone religious, please say a prayer for Ray. He is a great guy. He is still in critical condition. He has 3 boys, one who is friends with my boys who they play hockey with. I was talking to him earlier in the day as he was watching his son play at the rink and he was telling me how busy he was getting his boys to all of their games and how he hasn't played himself in a while (he later played that night and that's when this happened).

The reason they didn't mention us was because we didn't have a decline of 10+ percent in attendance over the last 10 years. Kind of hard to do that when you are only regularly drawing around 75-80%. In all actually, I don't think attendance could have ever gone to 65% just due to the amount of free tickets this team regularly gives away. And that doesn't even include the fact that we play a number of teams multiple times that have large traveling fan bases.
